Description. Part of an experimental restaurant concept for McDonald’s to test a store built entirely around digital ordering. The ask was for a series of animations to bring a personal and conversational tone to an otherwise automated restaurant experience.

To accomplish this, we utilized icons from McDonald’s kits and adapted them into playful animations with a mix of 2D and 3D graphics. Most of the animation is done using vector artwork in After Effects, however the coins are 3D animated in Blender.

There are nine animated sets with variations based on time of day accompanied by corresponding menu items and messaging.

Interspersed throughout the day are animated sets organized around themes which reinforce the connection between customer and brand.
